Delivery & Packaging
Our lubluelu CHYW201 arrived in a sturdy, medium-sized box, its front already printed with the CHYW201 model name and a sketch of the device – handy for telling it apart from the very similar lubluelu listings that circulate on Amazon. The back lists all the mandatory details: electrical ratings, CE/FCC markings and a customer service address for missing parts or damaged packaging.
Inside, snug foam inserts keep the unit and accessories from shifting in transit. Right on top sits a multilingual quick-start guide, and underneath a more detailed, fold-out manual with a full translation – including a parts overview and its own page dedicated to the remote control.
What Was Actually in the Box
Alongside the cleaning robot itself, our unit included: the remote control with two AAA batteries, a spray bottle for refilling water, a 5 m safety rope with its own warning tag, a power cable, the external power adapter and the microfiber cleaning pad already attached to the unit. The separately wrapped safety rope carries its own multilingual warning about suffocation risk from the packaging film – a detail we appreciated, since it shows the safety labelling wasn't cut corners on.
On the unit itself, the leather carry strap embossed with the "lubluelu" logo stands out, doubling as the power button and status light. The cable connector between the adapter and the main unit uses a screw-lock design – a small but sensible detail meant to stop the cable from accidentally slipping out while the robot is working on the glass.
Connecting & Getting Started
First setup was straightforward for us: plug in the adapter, screw the cable into the unit, secure the safety rope to a fixed point in the room, fill the water tank – done. The green light on the adapter reliably confirms power is flowing, and in our experience the internal battery finished charging within a bit over an hour.
What stood out most during setup was how secure everything felt: the safety rope can be tied off firmly before the unit ever touches the glass, so even a shaky first attachment can't end badly.
Daily Use: Remote Control Only, No On-Device Controls
This is, in our own experience, the biggest drawback: every function – choosing a cleaning mode, pausing, spraying, manually steering into corners – runs exclusively through the included remote. Apart from the main button on the leather strap, there's no way to intervene directly on the unit itself. In practice this means the remote needs to stay within reach for the entire cleaning cycle, since you can't react quickly if the robot gets stuck in a corner.
Once we got used to it, though, the remote itself was intuitive: the buttons are clearly labelled and easy to tell apart via icons for the Z- and N-shaped cleaning patterns as well as edge cleaning.
Other Things We Noticed Day to Day
Several of our windows have decorative window clings and privacy stickers on them – we were worried beforehand that the robot might get stuck on them. In practice, though, the lubluelu CHYW201 handled them without any issue and simply drove right over them without losing its grip. A window film already applied to one pane was also no problem for either suction or cleaning results.
What convinced us less, on the other hand, was how the cleaning fluid is handled: the two chambers of the water tank (2 × 80 ml) emptied at noticeably different rates for us, so consumption isn't split evenly between the two sides. In practice, that means keeping an eye on which chamber runs dry first, so you don't end up mid-cleaning without enough cleaning fluid.
Our Result: Fast, Safe – But Tied to the Remote
A full cleaning pass over a normal-sized window finished noticeably faster than we expected – certainly quicker than cleaning the same window by hand with a squeegee. Throughout the whole run, the noticeable suction and the taut safety rope kept us from ever worrying the unit might come loose.
Our takeaway from this hands-on test largely matches what we found in the full review: an affordable, surprisingly reliable entry into automated window cleaning, as long as you can live without app support and on-device controls.
Would We Buy It Again?
Yes – knowing that the remote needs to stay within reach for the entire cleaning cycle. For the price and the time saved compared to manual window cleaning, our own hands-on test leaves us with a positive overall impression of the packaging, build quality and safety features.
