What is the Shark StainStriker?

The Shark StainStriker (EU model PX200EUT) is a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner built on the spray-scrub-extract principle – but deliberately without steam: instead of heat, Shark relies on a two-formula system. CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro is sprayed on first and worked into the fabric with the brush, then the StainStriker OXY Multiplier follows, before the unit extracts the loosened residue. This tackles both fresh and dried-in stains on upholstery, carpets, mattresses and car seats. With a 450-watt motor, a 1.25-litre clean-water tank and a 0.72-litre dirty-water tank, the StainStriker is more compact than many steam rivals, gets by without a base and is carried by its handle. A separate hose-cleaning attachment helps flush the suction path after use. In Germany the 230/240 V model PX200EUT is widely available – sometimes considerably cheaper than steam machines. Be careful with US imports such as the PX202BRN (120 V): these do not work over here.

The StainStriker belongs to Shark's spot-cleaner line and is one of the few portable upholstery cleaners that combine two separate cleaning formulas, brush action and extraction in a compact housing. In Germany it is sold as the 230/240 V model PX200EUT; this review focuses on that EU version.

Good to know US models in the StainStriker range (such as the PX202BRN) run on 120 V and cannot be used in the EU without a voltage converter. When buying, look for the model designation PX200EUT and the 230/240 V specification – only this variant is suitable for the German market.

The StainStriker is not the only spot cleaner in our series. We took a closer look at three rival models with steam or suction cleaning: the lubluelu V11 with a wheeled base, the Bissell SpotClean HydroSteam with a real steam function, and the affordable steam newcomers uwant Y100 Steam and Dreame N20 Steam.

The Two-Formula System: How Shark Cleans Without Steam

This is how the StainStriker works on upholstery, carpet and more – from spraying to extraction.

Two-Formula System

Instead of one solution, the StainStriker uses two formulas: CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro loosens the dirt, while the StainStriker OXY Multiplier oxidatively brightens stubborn, coloured stains.

450 W Motor

The 450-watt motor provides the suction that pulls loosened dirt and liquid out of the fabric. Shark does not publish an official suction figure in pascals.

One-Button Operation

Operation is deliberately simple: a single button activates the two-formula feed (Tough Stains / Auto-Scrub). Adjustable suction levels or steam modes are nowhere to be found.

Separate Water Tanks

Clean water (1.25 l) and dirty water (0.72 l) are kept in two separate containers. The supplied hose-cleaning attachment flushes the suction path after use.

Cleaning Performance, Features & Operation

Water Tanks and Two-Formula Operation

A 1.25-litre clean-water tank feeds the spray nozzle, while the dirty water is collected separately in the 0.72-litre tank. The clever part is the two-formula system: CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro is sprayed on and worked in with the brush, then the StainStriker OXY Multiplier is applied before the unit extracts everything again. One-button operation controls the formula feed (Tough Stains / Auto-Scrub) – there are no steam settings or adjustable suction.

No Steam: Cold, but Chemically Strong

Unlike the Bissell SpotClean HydroSteam, the lubluelu V11, the uwant Y100 Steam or the Dreame N20 Steam, the StainStriker brings no steam into play. Instead of heat, Shark relies on the combination of two cleaning formulas plus mechanical brush action. For greasy or heavily dried-in dirt, steam is often an advantage – the Shark compensates with the oxidative OXY Multiplier, which particularly shines on coloured stains.

Handling: Carry, Not Pull

Like most compact spot cleaners, the StainStriker has no base and no wheels – the unit is carried by its handle and set down next to the area to be cleaned. At around 3.8 kg (manufacturer figure) it is considerably lighter than some steam rivals; however, the short 1.31 m hose means plenty of bending down when cleaning floors.

Cleaning the Unit & Accessories

There is no on-board self-cleaning as with some steam machines; instead, a hose-cleaning attachment is included for flushing the suction path. The box also contains a tough-stain tool, a wide tool, a pet-stain tool and a crevice tool, plus 177 ml of CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro and 355 ml of StainStriker OXY Multiplier.

Of the five models, the Shark StainStriker is the only one with no steam function at all – and, alongside the lubluelu V11, the cheapest. It positions itself as an affordable, compact cold-water extractor with a two-formula system, while Bissell, lubluelu, uwant and Dreame rely on steam plus suction extraction and sometimes quote considerably higher suction figures in pascals. If a low price and a light carry-along unit matter most to you and you can do without steam, the Shark is a solid option. If you want heat-driven cleaning power for greasy or stubborn dirt, one of the steam machines – especially the lubluelu V11 with its wheeled base – is the better fit.

Who is the Shark StainStriker For?

Households looking for an affordable, compact spot and upholstery cleaner without steam for targeted jobs – on sofas, carpets, mattresses, stairs or in the car – who value simple operation, wide availability and a genuine two-formula cleaning system.

Our Advice Do you have small children, pets or light-coloured upholstered furniture and want to treat fresh and dried-in stains yourself? Then, thanks to its two-formula system, low weight and low price, the StainStriker is an affordable recommendation – as long as you don't need steam. If, on the other hand, you want to tackle greasy or extremely stubborn dirt with as little chemistry as possible, a steam machine is the better choice.
Keep in Mind The Shark is a pure cold-water extractor with no heater. For whole carpeted floors, the clean-water (1.25 l) and dirty-water tanks (0.72 l) are too small, and the unit is explicitly not recommended for wool. There is no base – the unit is carried and, on larger jobs, refilled and emptied accordingly often.

Shark StainStriker FAQ

According to the manufacturer, for carpets, rugs, sofas, upholstery, mattresses, stairs, car seats and pet beds. The focus is on spot treatment and freshening up individual areas rather than cleaning whole rooms – for a fully soaked carpet, an extractor with larger tanks is the better choice.
The StainStriker is explicitly not recommended for wool and other delicate natural fibres: the combination of an agitating brush, moisture and the oxidative OXY formula can mat or fade wool. With valuable wool rugs or wool upholstery, test on a hidden spot first or use a product approved for wool.
Unlike many machines, the StainStriker uses two separate cleaning formulas: CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro is sprayed on first and worked into the fabric with the brush, then the StainStriker OXY Multiplier follows, oxidatively brightening stubborn and coloured stains. The unit then extracts the loosened dirt and liquid. Retailers sometimes advertise the combination as "up to 20% more cleaning power" – we could not find an independently verified percentage.
No. The StainStriker is a pure cold-water extractor with no heater and no steam – we deliberately leave that field to the competition such as the Bissell SpotClean HydroSteam, lubluelu V11, uwant Y100 Steam or Dreame N20 Steam. Instead, the Shark relies on chemical and mechanical stain removal via the two formulas. If you want real steam for greasy or stubborn dirt, go for a steam machine.
The manufacturer figures are inconsistent here: SharkNinja quotes around 3.8 kg for the EU model, while some retailer listings give 6.53 kg as the gross weight including packaging. For noise, geizhals.de cites 87 dB(A), while a single source states 55 dB. We have no reliable independent measurements, so we expressly flag these figures as uncertain. One thing is certain: there is no base, so the unit is carried.
The official RRP on sharkninja.de is €179.99. In retail the StainStriker is noticeably cheaper: the street price starts at around €118 (e.g. reichelt), and MediaMarkt and Saturn sometimes list the unit at €152.99. Overall the price ranges from roughly €118 to €153 depending on the retailer and promotion (research date: October 2026). The price button on this page shows current availability.
This is the most important point when buying: the EU model PX200EUT runs on 230/240 V and is approved for Germany. US variants such as the PX202BRN run on 120 V and cannot be operated in the EU without a suitable voltage converter – and warranty and spare-parts support then become problematic too. So be sure to check for the model designation PX200EUT and the 230/240 V specification when buying.
The box contains several attachments – for tough stains, for wide areas, for pet stains and a crevice tool – plus a hose-cleaning attachment for flushing the suction path. As for cleaning agents, the manufacturer states that 177 ml of CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro and 355 ml of StainStriker OXY Multiplier are included. There is no on-board self-cleaning as with some steam machines; cleaning is done with the supplied attachment.

Our Verdict

★★★★★ 4,5/5

The Shark StainStriker impresses as an affordable, compact spot and upholstery cleaner with a genuine two-formula system, simple one-button operation and wide availability in Germany – including up to 3 years of warranty on registration. In a direct comparison, the steam machines Bissell SpotClean HydroSteam, lubluelu V11, uwant Y100 Steam and Dreame N20 Steam win on cleaning power against greasy and stubborn dirt, and in some cases on suction in pascals. But if you don't need a steam machine, care about price and are looking for a light carry-along unit for spot treatment, you can hardly go wrong with the StainStriker – provided the small water tanks and the missing base don't bother you.
