The Aarke Kettle A1240 is a Swedish design icon and the most expensive kettle in our comparison – but also one of the most beautiful. The brushed stainless steel body is double-walled, giving it an exceptional premium feel. The matte surface looks high-quality and reflects light subtly. The soft-open lid opens smoothly at the push of a button and closes silently.

Build quality is first-class: welds are clean, the stainless steel handle fits perfectly in the hand, and the 360° base with its slim design blends seamlessly into the overall picture. At 27 cm tall, the kettle is relatively slim and takes up little counter space. The brushed stainless steel surface does show fingerprints – a typical characteristic of this finish.

Performance & Heating Time

With 1850 watts, the Aarke Kettle A1240 is in the lower to middle performance range of our test field. One liter reaches boiling point in about 3 minutes and 18 seconds – not the fastest value, but perfectly acceptable for a premium kettle that excels primarily through its design qualities.

However, the Aarke impresses with exceptionally quiet operation. At a measured 62 dB, it is one of the quietest kettles in the entire test. The quiet heating is thanks to the high-quality insulation and well-designed heating element construction. This is a major advantage in open-plan kitchens or early in the morning.

Temperature Settings – Precise via LED

Temperature selection is done via small LEDs on the base – a subtle, elegant system that matches the kettle's minimalist design. There are 4 temperature levels available:

• 40 °C – Ideal for baby bottles and lukewarm drinks
• 80 °C – Perfect for green tea and delicate teas (prevents bitterness)
• 85 °C – Optimal for white tea and oolong
• 100 °C – Classic boiling point for black tea, coffee and herbal tea

The LED display on the base shows the selected temperature discreetly. Unlike many competitors with displays in the lid or handle, the design remains purist. There is no keep-warm function – the Aarke heats to the selected temperature and then switches off. The double-walled insulation keeps the water hot for a long time nonetheless: after 30 minutes, 83.6 °C is still measurable.

The body stays pleasantly cool on the outside even with boiling water – a real safety feature, especially in households with children. At the same time, the double-walled design insulates excellently: water stays hot significantly longer than with single-walled models, without needing a keep-warm function.

Descaling Ease & Filter System

The Aarke Kettle A1240 achieves a descaling ease of 3/5 in our test. The removable stainless steel limescale filter sits in the spout and reliably catches scale particles. It can be easily removed for cleaning and rinsed under running water.

The 80 mm lid opening allows for decent interior cleaning. The double-walled construction means the inside is smooth and scale has difficulty adhering. Nevertheless, we recommend regular descaling every 4–6 weeks, depending on water hardness.
